At SWA, we prefer to call our "pet" stock "fibre" animals as these animals are more then pets, they are fibre producing animals and need to be sheared each year. They are not lawn ornaments, or pretty pasture relics, they are a luxurious fleece baring creature who's fibre characteristics are soft, hypo allergenic, luxurious and very thermal. This heavy fleece could be detrimental to them in the summer time and if this fleece is not removed from their bodies, our warm Canadian summers could be detrimental to the alpaca.

Fibre animals are usually males that do not fit our breeding criteria. For this reason only, these males will be gelded (castrated) and sold for a lower price then breeding stock. Quality of the fibre animal and availability will alter the cost of fibre animals depending on the farm. In Ontario, fibre animals cost anywhere between $800-$1,500.00 per animal, and most breeders should insist on having two buddies go together, unless you own already an alpaca or at least a llama. Another reason why

SWA sticks to the label "Fibre" animals instead of "Pet" stock, as we personally feel that these animals are also crucial to the industry, as you can utilize their fibre to off set the cost of their up keep.

We do have fibre animals for sale on occasion, so please check with us by contacting Nancy.

At present time we have 2 fibre boys for sale.

Fibre animals will only be sold as individuals IF the purchaser has another suitable companion animal for one of SWA's fibre animals. Alpacas are herd animals and require a buddy. If you do not have another suitable animal, you will be required to purchase two alpacas. Our fibre animals come with gelding contracts, their own halters and are halter trained.

You will be taught proper handling techniques using the T-Team approached used by Camelid Dynamics. Nancy has trained numerous dogs in her time, and has worked hard to understand proper handling of alpacas.

She has completed the basic training of Camelid Dynamics and was invited to attended the 4 day advanced clinic in Oregon. Nancy will continue to seek out proper handling techniques of alpacas, and will always be on hand to help clients who purchase from SWA.

Atlas: For Sale

This yearling is one the easiest handling animal there is. You can see in the photo how Atlas lays his head on Garth's hand. Atlas is a sweet boy, has lots of fibre and nice wavy crimp. He does not suit our high standards of breeding requirements and is up for sale to a suitable home. Atlas has some interesting colours to him, and he was named due the map looking colour on his face.

Price: SOLD
Atlas will be leaving SWA to go to his new qualified home.  Thank you John and Sharon for adopting Atlas as one of your new family members.

Radar Luv

This yearling is very gentle. He is a good natured boy who does not meet our high standards for breeding. He has the most amazing creamy coloured fleece that is full of wavy fibre. Spinners would love to get their hands on his fibre. Radar is very laid back and does not have a care in the world. He is up for sale to a suitable home.

Price: SOLD
Radar Luv has been adopted. He will be leaving to go to his new qualified home just before Christmas.  Thank you Simone and Bruce for welcoming Radar into your alpaca herd.  You will love his little charm.
